Manic Mondays

This Monday was a teacher planning day, so that meant no school for the kids. I wish I could of said it was a nice relaxing day and that we all got to sleep in and be lazy but that is just not my life now is it?

We all had eye appointments and Caleb and Elora saw the optometrist for the very first time. Unfortunately that took up most of our afternoon. Elora did very well for her age and didn't make a peep even though she was severely nervous and scared. Dr. Ned was very nice to them all. Caleb we found out has been squinting to see far and needs a prescription for glasses so he can see the board. That took us totally by surprise since he never complains and his teacher has never mentioned anything about him complaining he can't see. Dr.Ned asked if his grades were good and I said yes and he too was a little confused but he did say that Caleb was only to wear it in class when looking at the chalk board. Andrew also needs a prescription for glasses and isn't as bad as Caleb and also needs them just for reading the chalk board in class. This weekend we are going to shop around for some glasses and see who can offer us the best deal. Yup soon there will be pictures of the boys in their new glasses.

After our appointments I stopped and got the kids some Sonic for lunch since they were so good at the doctor's office. We came home and I let them be kids. Thankfully my husband helped me clean the house some yesterday so that all that needed to be done today was some sweeping and some laundry.

Mark has duty until midnight and the kids have been playing hard all day since it was a nice breezy 74 outside. Looks like Fall might finally be in the air for us! Tomorrow is the Kindergarten zoo field trip and I can't wait!!

Pumpkin Carving

Since it is our favorite time of year and we make do with what we have which is no real pumpkin patches we still found a good deal on some larege carving pumpkins. I picked up one for each child and let them have at it. Here are some pics of our carving fun!

Fall Festival

Today started off a nice day. Woke up to Elora rock banding it out with the drum sticks, well at least pretending to lol. The kids and Mark played a little Wii after breakfast, we got the house picked up some, and went off to have some fun at the Fall Festival.

This is our 2nd Fall here in Jacksonville and it is still in the 80's. The humidity is low so it was a nice day and the clouds were out. The kids enjoyed the many jump houses, bull rides, surf board rides, and food. They had a little bit of everything for everyone. After wards we wanted to go to a pumpkin patch but there aren't any in the area so we ended up finding some really nice looking pumpkins at Foodlion when I went to go get my milk lol. Came home and enjoyed some meat ball subs, enjoying the snuggles my daughter gives and watching a movie of her choice. What a perfect Saturday!

It's that time of year again...

Of course its my FAVORITE time of year.

::.Halloween.::

Fall has always been my favorite time of year, no matter where we lived. In California the leaves would change the pumpkin patches would be full of children learning, laughing, and exploring. In Virginia the leaves were beautiful, the pumpkin patches were amazing, and the air was crisp and cool. Here in Florida it is a different kind of Fall. There is no certainty of cool weather, no changing of leaves, and unfortunately no pumpkin patches, but you know what it is still my favorite time of year.

School has started back up and the kids are back into the swing of things. Activities are going on, and lots of things to keep us nice and busy.
Elora is loving kindergarten. She is bright, happy and smart. Her teacher compliments her every single day, and is even kind enough to leave voice mails on our phones letting us know how much she enjoys Elora being in her class. It's very reassuring that Elora is on a good path at school.

Caleb is doing well also. He is learning to rotate his classes like Andrew does, his teacher is great. She takes tons of photo's and emails them to the class, she also emails the parents her agenda for the week and they even have class pets names "munch & nibbles" that Caleb got to bring home this past weekend. They really enjoyed that. He is smart and sometimes gets bored which leads to talking which we are working on lol.

Andrew is doing okay. He isn't trying to hard which is what our "problem" has been in these past few weeks. So we keep on him about that. We'll know more in the up coming weeks when he makes his doc appointment to get tested for a few things. The OT came to school and worked with him on Monday so we should be getting an updated IEP addendum soon.

It's amazing how fast the time has been going here in Mayport. We are almost done with October. I have been so bad about posting on the blog site. I need to be in the mood and unfortunately just haven't been. Not to mention just being plain busy. I had a surprise birthday party for one of my best friends. I enlisted her husband it to helping me and she was definitely surprised so I was glad. We've been hanging out with our families together quite a bit which is fun. Kids have been going to Freedom Friday's and we have been hanging out, going to dinner, and just relaxing while the kids have some fun.

This Halloween's I have been more relaxed about things. Andrew is going to be a classic vampire with a great cape, white face and fangs. Caleb is going to be Venom from spider man, and Miss Elora is going to be a witch! I even made her tutu this year! I will spray paint her hair pink and load her up with glitter like she wants lol. She is completely excited. I will have pics of them up soon.

I am waiting for the weather to get a little cooler so I can get the fall picture taken. I can't wait. Hoping this weekend might be the weekend.

Everyone keep safe and stay away from the sickies!

August 24th

August 24th 2009 will be a day Mark and I will remember hopefully for the rest of our lives. It's the date that all three of our babies will be in Elementary school together. Yup Elora is going to Kindergarten this year, Caleb will be in 2nd grade and Andrew will be in 3rd grade. I can't believe how fast this summer has gone. Not to mention how big all my babies are!

We went to Orientation a bit late but better late than never. Elora got to meet her teacher Mrs.Donlyn and she was very excited. Mrs.Donlyn seems to be a very lovey teacher and seems to be a very kind nature sweet woman. Elora is excited to get to know her new classmates. I don't think she has any of her friends in these classes which was a bummer but Im sure she will quickly get over it.

We went to meet Caleb's teacher who happens to be new to the school this year and as opinion stands she will have to "prove" herself to me. She failed to mention the 2nd graders were rotating like the 3rd graders. So that means Caleb like Andrew will have 7 teachers. His home room teacher is Mrs.Shephard. She seems nice enough but a bit flakey and me asking questions was how she told her class parents bout certain things *sigh*

Andrew of course has Mrs.Vanhoose again but his other two teachers are different. They are all women which might make him a bit more relaxed since he did have a male teacher for the first time last year and it took a long long long time for him to get used to that particular teacher. Hopefully this extra year of 3rd will do him some good.

A decade well spent

Well you read right. A full decade has gone by in our marriage. It's amazing on how different it sounds when you use the word decade rather than 10 yrs. Yes 10 years sounds like a long time too but not as long as a decade haha.

Our anniversary was on August 21st. Nothing special went on that particular day due to many other reasons but we will be celebrating next weekend in Orlando hopefully at one of the Disney World water park resorts! We are going to for the day with out the kids. Our good friends Carrie & Jeremy are watching our three monkey's and we will be having some much needed fun alone together.

Hopefully I can get a picture down sizer on this net book to be able to post some pics of the kids recently.

Here's to another decade being Mrs. Mark Prescott =)

Main computer down

Well, we were using the dinosaur monitor and sure enough it short circuited on us and died. So sad! Now unfortunately we have to wait to get a nicer monitor and all my projects that I was trying to complete are on hold. So pap's scrapbook will end up being a Christmas present rather than a birthday present =( Thank goodness for the net book or else we'd had nothing!

keep on loosing

I am very excited and on my final straw. I want to get rid of this weight so bad. I am finally past my plateau and in the last 6 weeks I have been watching my portions, adding in excercise, and trying to just keep my body moving!

I started out a whooping 205, that is the largest I have ever been in my entire life. It was not only shocking, disgusting, and shameful to me but the children have started mentioned how "fluffy" I was. I am done being "fluffy". Even when I don't want to I get my ass in my walking clothes and head on out the door coming home all sweaty and disgusting! I watch my porions, force myself to eat breakfast, and when I clean I turn on the music and shake my tank to the music lol.

I am proud to report I am down 16 pounds and working hard to not only keep it off but to keep chipping away so that I can make my first goal!! My first goal is 160. Once I get to 160 I will work my way down another 20 pounds to my final goal of 140. I made myself a ticker so I keep motivated.

Summer Reading

Been doing some reading since Summer has begun. I still have quite a few I would like to start on. Some of the books I have read are :

  1. all of the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris (9)
  2. Mercy thompson series by patricia briggs (4)
  3. alpha & omega series also by Patricia briggs (2 books)
4.P.C.Cast House of night series (3)

I have waiting for me is:

1. The constant Princess
2. The Other Boleyn Girl
3. The Boleyn inheritance
4. The queens fool
5.The virgins Lover
6. The vampire Diaries books 1-4
7.Hunted (house of night)

Books I wish to read later:
Jane Austins Pride & Prejudice

Let the cleaning commence

So today started off poorly waking up with a nasty migrain that had carried over from the night before. Fortunately I had some meds left and the headache dissapated. So I finally got up, got Elora dressed and hair done, the boys got dressed and begged to play video games, so while they were doing that I finally tackled the task at hand, which was our very messy office space and craft room. Let me tell you it was a long time and coming. It was 5 grocery bags full of trash and very gritty. Swept it all up and now it looks great! Almost afraid of going in there and creating in fear of making it messy again!

Took the boys to the youth center while Miss Elora played at her best friends house which is only two doors down. Now that the house has been clean been lounging around, waiting on the laundry to be finished, watching one of my all time favorite movies "Pride & Prejudice". Got to love the summer time.

Time really does just fly by

In 3 short weeks the kids will all be back at school again. Elora will be entering elementary school and will be a proud Kindergartner. She is excited as can be to be going to school along with her brothers. I really do hope this excitement continues through out her school years. It is amazing watching the twinkle in her eye when she gets things right, writes her letters, numbers, and names, and has even tied her own shoes. She learned much earlier than the boys did that is for sure.

This month we are just relaxing, enjoying the next couple weeks off, then celebrating our 10 year wedding anniversary, along with Mark's 12th year in the navy, the kids going back to school, and hopefully fall weather approaching us soon!

We had plans to go to Savannah, but with the scheduling it fell through but hopefully we will make it in September. We also will have to reschedule our anniversary trip cause my friend who was going to watch the kids has her mother coming in which is fine. We will go that first weekend in September and have a great time.

I do have some pics to post but need to resize them and being I am on the netbook I will do it another post. I've been reading a couple series. I am all done with the Sookie Stackhouse series until the next one which I believe is next May, I have read all but hunted in the House of Night series, I have started reading the Boleyn series by Philippa Gregory, and waiting on book 1&2 in the Vampire Diaries series. I did read the Patricia Briggs series Mercedes Thompson which were good and a new book should be coming out soon to that series I think this fall. I am glad I have reconnected with my love for books and reading. I am also glad that Elora has absorbed my love for books as well.

Until next time, blessed be and good day!

A late Friday night

So it is late on Friday night well to be technical it's bright and early on Saturday morning. Friday was a decent day even though poor Mark had to work even though it was supposed to be his day off. Thanks to a POS Master Chief that works in the building who is way off his rocker. So unfortunately my oil didn't get changed, and I do need a tire patch and we are going to attempt to have the hobby lobby do it on base even though the auto port is there it is expensive and slower than molases on a hot summer day lol.

Mark got home and I took the boys to the youth center which they have lunch, Elora stayed home with daddy and had a nice 2 hour nap. I went out to target to get a few things and catch up with a good friend. We went to a couple different targets, then to a couple craft stores, suprisingly and most amazingly I didn't want to buy any crafts, pens, copics, nothing! I was not only shocked at myself and super surprised hehee.

Got home and got ready and the kids got to pick where they wanted to go to eat. They picked Chili's which we haven't eaten in a long while. They had a great 3 course meal for $20 going on so our meal wasn't super expensive. Then Mark surprised the boys (and myself) and we went and got a new router to hook up so that the boys can shop the wii channel with their wii points card Mark picked up but I can connect my netbook with out having to have an extra provider to pay. So here I am blogging away at almost 2 am enjoying the high speed my little netbook is providing. Mark fell asleep playing with the wii channel and wii mii's which were totally cracking me up. Can you imagine? There were characters like billy mase, edward cullen, spider man, snoopy, and many many many more. I am now listening to today's "Young and the restless" while I type away to my hearts content! Gotta love todays technology and the spoils it gives us!

We were supposed to go to Savannah this weekend but being we didn't get a chance to do a couple things like get the tire patched up and the van is in desperate need of an oil change I didn't want to chance a 2+ hour drive with the kids and us being stranded somewhere. Plus it has been nasty thunderstorming and we'bve heard that due to the "ghosts" of Savannah that lots of the merchants close super early nightly. Mostly by 6 pm and well what a waste that would be huh! So we will make it down there sometime in September and hopefully the weather will be cooler and maybe even the leaves changing?? That would be a dream picture senario! But we will make it down there some time soon.

I can't believe it's already August. We've been here exactly one year here in Mayport Florida. It's been a tough year with many ups and downs but we are so much better here than we were in Virginia! In about 3 weeks school is about to begin and our baby girl is going off to Kindergarten! Wow what an amazing time she will have. Andrew will be surrounded with familiarness, and Caleb will be charming his way through 2nd grade. I can't believe they will all be in school together! Amazing. Well let me ramble on another night. Blessed be everyone!

Sickies go AWAY!

Our Poor house was plagued with the sickies. You all will not believe how glad I am to have a healthy happy family again! I really was disappointed in our friend who didn't tell us until we were leaving her house that her kids had this nasty stomach virus. Low and behold two days later I got it. It was one nasty hot mess. Thankfully it was the weekend so Mark could take care of the kids and try and keep them away from me as much as possible. Three out of the Five of us got it which sucked. Poor Caleb got it first out of the kids and he was the mildest case only throwing up 3 times before feeling completely better. Elora got it too and threw up for 48 hrs which was just awful for her but today she and I are back to our normal selves and feeling better than we have been in the last 4 days! Hopefully the sickies stay FAR,FAR, AWAY!!!!

And away we go...

So we got Caleb a bike for his birthday, he has been practicing with the training wheels and hopefully soon he will be wheel-less. Elora is excited bout it too and tries to practice on his bike too, even though she has her own bike but it is a little larger than we thought. But here are some pics and even a few random ones too lol

Tea For Two (Father's Day)

We had a nice mellow Father's day this year. The kids presented a card I had made that they had signed and even made coupons for their dad to use with sayings like "one good massage", "lots of XoXoXo", ect. It was super cute and he loved them.

Elora especially had her own surprise for her Daddy and she set up a tea party in her room. It was one of the cutest things ever!

Let's get our Bowl on!

Since Mark went to Cali for his vacation to spend 6 days with his friend in Cali I decided the kids and I weren't going to sit at home. But the weather has been uncooperative. We have nothing but rain coming our way and what better way to get our energy on a rainy day than Bowling! We called up our friend Courtney and her & her boys met us at the bowling alley for some good fun! The kids had a blast and it got them out of the house for an a couple of hours or so!

4th of July

We've always loved celebrating Independance Day with the kids and Mark was adiment about BBQing this year. Although it was just our little family we had a great time. I slow cooked some ribs, we went and got some yummy KFC coleslaw (it's the bomb!), corn on the cob and can't forget the BBQ chicken!! Oh it was so yummy not to mention we had a Lemon glazed Cake for dessert! We went to the beach and collected some shells and the water was so warm I wish we had spent a couple hours there instead of just the 45 min! We did go back though to catch the fireworks on the beach! They were beautiful and the kids had a blast. It feels like we've lived here longer than just a year (not quite a year yet though). The time has a funny way of playing tricks with your mind, when you like a place it goes quickly and when you don't it drags on so slow. We just might stay here, & the funny part is only time will tell!
